Beauty contests for women have always been popular around the world, but in recent years child pageants have become more successful. This success led to the production of the well-known show, Toddlers and Tiaras. Beauty pageants have now evolved and even include newborn babies. Contestants are not only rewarded with a title, but also receive cash prices. These rewards and fame without a doubt attract parents into the world of beauty pageants. Children who are involved in beauty pageants are perceived as â€Å"perfect† on stage and are expected to be perfect off stage. In the long run pageants take a toll on children causing psychological impacts that outweigh the benefits. The selection criterion for the two articles is that they should have different research strategies. The papers selected are Paper B and Paper C. As a result, the girls end up being dissatisfied with their weight and develop drive for thinness so that their body images and appearances can resemble those that they see on media platforms. This makes it necessary to conduct the research because its findings can be used by relevant stakeholders to find strategies of helping men to get tested, diagnosed and treated of prostate cancer at the right time irrespective of whether they live in urban areas or regional/rural areas. Therefore authors want the study to help in eliminating geographical difference as an obstacle to timely testing, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. The worldview and theory base of Paper B is that low self-esteem, weight dissatisfaction and eating disorders are key problems that affect adolescent girls worldwide. When girls are in their adolescence stage, they become very sensitive about their weight and how they look. Majority of girls tend to be dissatisfied with their bodies and looks when they weigh more resulting into eating disorders either to become thin or because of stress and depression. This largely affects self-esteem of adolescent girls thus lowering their performance in schools and some of them start developing negative attitude towards themselves and life in general. The authors of this article have recognized that this is a global problem that needs to be solved so as to save girls from negative effects of internet exposure. Paper Cs worldview and theory are based on the fact that prostate cancer is a life-threatening disease among men but unfortunately testing, diagnosis and treatment of this disease is dependent on the patients geographical location. Those who live in urban areas are likely to have easy access to medical information and facilitates that are needed test, diagnose and treat prostate cancer. However, these privileges are minimal for those living in rural/regional areas thus increasing the likelihood of high prostate mortality rates in these areas. Paper B has two hypotheses. The first hypothesis is that there is a correlation between internet appearance exposure and lower weight satisfaction and higher thinness drive. The second hypothesis is that the relationship between effects of internet exposure and thinness drive and weight dissatisfaction can be mediated by internalization of appearance comparison and thin ideal mediated. These hypothesis are adequate to help the researchers achieve their objectives and find solutions to the problem being investigated. The hypothesis of Paper C is that there is a difference in radical prostatectomy, PSA testing and prostate cancer mortality between men living in urban areas and those in regional/rural areas in Australia. This hypothesis can be tested by analyzing the health and death statistics available showing the number of men tested, diagnosed and treated with prostate cancer and those who have died from prostate cancer within the period considered. Therefore testing this hypothesis is adequate to achieve the main aim and objective of the research. The research strategy used in Paper B is surveys, which entailed collecting data from a sample of participants from a specific population by use of a questionnaire. In this case, 156 adolescent girls in high school were involved. The questionnaire consisted of both closed-ended and open-ended questions, and it took about 15-20 minutes to complete. The research strategy that has been used to accomplish Paper C is case study. This strategy usually aims at collecting data about a particular group of people so as to generate specific information about them. Case study makes an inquiry about a topic using past studies and reports (Wedawatta, Ingirige and Amaratunga, 2015). In this case, the researchers analyzed prostate cancer cases (testing, diagnosis, treatment and deaths) among men living in urban areas and rural areas in Australia. This strategy is also among the commonly used research strategies in caring sciences, and is most suitable when conducting research aimed at answering how why questions. The research approach used in Paper B is mixed methods approach. This is because the method combines both qualitative and quantitative research methods (Hughes, 2016; Tariq and Woodman, 2013), which was the case in this research. Qualitative research method is an exploratory approach that aims at gaining an understanding of primary reasons, motivations and opinions behind an issue. It also uncovers trends in opinions and beliefs by use of open-ended questions. Quantitative research method is an approach that uses numerical data to quantify a problem so as to generate usable statistics. The method quantifies defined variables such as opinions, attitudes and behaviors from a selected sample population then generalizes results. This method uses quantifiable figures to uncover trends and formulate facts about a problem. This research approach has several strengths that made it suitable for the research. Its basic strength is that it overcomes the weaknesses of qualitative and quantitativ e research approaches, and enables the researcher to use all available tools in collecting comprehensive data (Center for Innovation in Research and Teaching, 2013). The approach also gives the researcher freedom to present final findings in form of statistical analyses and observations. Additionally, this research approach combines rational and inductive reasoning; it reduces the researchers personal biases; the findings appeal a wider audience due to use of both text and numbers when presenting results; (Moss, 2017; Bryman, 2012; Creswell, 2013). Therefore this approach helps the research to test the research hypotheses or answer research questions comprehensively (Malina, Norreklit and Selto, 2011). However, the approach also has some weaknesses including: it is time consuming, it usually involves a complex research design, and it can be challenging to resolve any discrepancies that may arise when interpreting findings (FoodRisc Resource Centre, 2016). The research approach used in Paper C is descriptive approach. This is a type of research approach that describes the study populations characteristics. The approach establishes relationships between various variables. The descriptive approach used in this research was quantitative that established the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables (University of Southern California, 2017). In this case, the independent variables were urban and rural/regional areas, and the dependent variables were prostate cancer mortality, PSA testing and radical prostatectomy. Strengths of descriptive studies include: it provides a multidimensional approach for collecting data; it facilitates assessment of peoples life experiences; it enables the researcher to analyze the subjects without changing them; it widens the researchers scope of topic; and it gives researchers the freedom to explore the problem in ways that could not be possible with experimental approach. Weaknesses o f this research approach include: accuracy of findings depend largely on availability of data; it is difficult to use for testing the research problem qualitatively; and researchers are not able to control events so as to establish causes and effects. The research methods used in Paper B paper are regression and correlation analyses. These are statistical and numerical research methods used to establish the relationship between different measurement variables (McDonald, 2015). Correlation is mainly used to define how two different variables are related to each other (McLeod, 2008). In this paper, several subscales were used to measure and analyze different variables. Some of these include Sociocultural Internalization of Appearance Questionnaire Adolescents, Physical Appearance Comparison Scale, Body-Esteem Scale for Adolescents and Adults, and Eating Disorder Inventory Miller and Tiggemann, 2010). Regression and correlation equations were also used to determine regression and correlation coefficients respectively for various variables. Paper C used joinpoint regression to calculate confidence intervals and point estimates of age-standardized rates from Stata a statistical package. Joipoint regression is a statistical tools that is used to generate lines shows trends of data over several years. This helps researchers to easily and precisely interpret changes in rates or trends of data collected over time (Administration of Pennsylvania, (n.d.)). Further analysis was done using Poisson regression models. The two papers have been appraised efficaciously by considering their respective health issues discussed, framing of the issues, worldview of the issue, research question or hypothesis, research strategy, research methods and research approach. In spite of seeing the painting repeatedly and in many different ways, I still wasnt familiar with the history behind the painting. I didnt know precisely at what time it was painted, where it was painted, what type of painting it is, and why Da Vinci decided to paint it. I thought it would be nice to write about this piece with the aim of learning more about it while writi ng my paper. As already acknowledged, The Last Supper was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci, an Italian artist from the town of Vinci. He is one of the most extraordinary painters, architects, and gifted philosophers of all time. Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in the neighborhood of Vinci but spent a large part of his life in Florence where he started painting and after a particular period- painting. When he was fourteen, Leonardo began working as a studio boy to Andrea del Verrocchio, who at the time was one of the most acclaimed painters (Kenneth, 1939). He grew to be a self-dependent master in 1478, at which time he started being commissioned for a variety of works of art. Da Vinci commenced painting The Last Supper in 1495 for his patron Duke Ludovico Sforza (the Duke of Milan), whom he started to work for in 1482. Leonardos Last Supper is a priceless piece of art with a great deal of concealed meaning and noticeable talents  conferred upon a wall. He was capable of using hisskills in prod ucing a very comprehensive and naturalistic piece of work that would be kept in mind forhundreds of years. The painting exactly conveys the story of the last supper in one setting. Presently, Leonardos Last Supper is still a significant work of art, as it was significant when it was first painted. Several paintings of Jesus and his disciples at the last supper have been created, but by no means has one appeared quite as real. The disciples are assembled into groups of three and attached all the groups together through their hand movements giving this piece a symmetrically aesthetic sensation. Furthermore, Da Vincis painting is a masterpiece due to his exceptional application of point perspective (Kenneth, 1939). The way it is painted on the wall makes it seem to be a continuation of the room. Jesus, the most important person in the painting, has been positioned in front of three windows that are in the rear of the room, and he is framed by the center window with an arched pediment. His head functions as the central and vanishing point of this piece, plus all lines lead right to him. The viewers eyes and attention is immediately attracted right to Jesus. It is apparent that Jesus functions as the vital magnet. The use of proper perspective was quite a novel idea when it came to painting, and Da Vinci utilized it superbly. A few individuals even argue that it is one of the greatest applications of one point perspective ever produced. Despite being such an extraordinary painting, The Last Supper is still very much talked about and viewed in the present day. Leonardos Last Supper has many theories behind it, such as the stories that the same model was utilized for painting Jesus and then years later used for Judas. Or that the apostle sitting to the left of Jesus is not really John, but rather a woman, Mary Magdalene (Edward, 1928). Organization First impressions are crucial. If a classroom is organized and appropriately arranged, then it is apparent that the teacher possesses good management skills. A variety of things must be considered when arranging the classroom. It â€Å"must contain interesting materials appropriate to a child’s stage of intellectual development† and not appear thrown together (Streng, 1978). All fire exits, doorways, and main walkways must be kept open and free of clutter while built in cupboards, drawers, closets, etc must be easily accessible as well. The desk arrangement, perhaps the most important element, requires several considerations. Placing the students desks in groups promotes peer tutoring and collaborative activities. However, they may tend to be more talkative and less focused. Individual seating is effective in keeping students focused and on task, but group work is often difficult and requiring time to move desks. Also, when students are separated from each other they are more dependent on the teacher for understanding since their peers are not as easily accessible. Often pairing students is a good method that promotes peer tutoring and some teamwork but has a better chance of students remaining focused and successful (Glover, 1994). Learning and teaching styles need to be considered, as well as how the classroom should be run, before arranging desks. The teacher’s desk should be strategically placed so all students can be seen and any important areas such as a black board are not blocked. Pros and Cons of Zoos

One of the many pros to keeping animals in captivity is breeding programs to help endangered species â€Å"Many zoos have breeding programs in place to help eliminate genetic bottlenecks, especially when dealing with an endangered species.† (Vittana, 5/31/17) . It is also a way to engage young children in science and to learn more about nature. However they do have a few cons such as a shorter lifespan for instance, on average an orca lives a much shorter life in captivity vs. in the wild, â€Å"In captivity, the average lifespan of an orca is one-third the lifespan of a wild orca.† (Animal legal defense fund, 1/15/16). (Animals may also succumb to zoochosis which is the display of repetitive behavior because of being trapped unable to roam free. This causes stress for them wishing they were able to go where their hearts desire. On the other side of this argument the pros of animals in the wild way a lot higher. There are some but few exceptions to the rule that all animals need large natural spaces to thrive and be healthy. The economic pros of wild species are tremendous such as the economical benefits shift to outdoor recreational activities. Hunting and fishing are two major sources of economic revenues generating a cash flow in the wildlife industry. â€Å"The recreational pros to wild life is the ecotourism it attracts annually to generate larger revenue for the state funding.† (Bobula, 3/3/17). Most importantly animals in the wild are a part of the ecosystem and help out a lot, †Ã‚  animals are an integral part of the environment and without them we ourselves would struggle to exist, (8/22/14 Nitin Bhamvani ). Animals in the wild also help disperse seeds that grow into plants giving us oxygen. They also provide a good source of food for us if left alone and many clothing accessories that we need as well. Animals all have a special purpose in the wild. I believe the only major con of animals in the wild are those that are illegally imported. They cause threats to other wildlife and humans, they spread many diseases to us all â€Å"Zoonotic diseases — those that jump to humans — account for three quarters of all emerging infectious threats† (Alfano, 11/28/06). This is the cause only of the animals that are imported which leads to my statement that if animals are kept unbothered in nature they will cause no harm or visible threat to us all world wide. The overall census between animals in the wild and in captivity is that they intertwine and overlap, we need to manage wildlife which in its long term approach will benefit us people for many generations to come. So if you were to ask my opinion on if animals are better off in the wild or placed in captivity my answer would be left in the wild. The reason for this is very simple in the data, animals naturally will live longer healthier lives in the wild. This in turn will help our environment and will not interrupt the food chain. Animals should not be caged because it is cruel and against nature, in zoos they are treated very badly as seen from this article â€Å"Animal cruelty in zoos  continues to be extremely common. There are continuous cases of animals  abused by visitors  and zoo workers. Many of them are reported every week in the media, however, the large majority are kept secret and those responsible are never held accountable or punished.† (Netivist, 4/26/18). Animals also contract many diseases from other zoo animals and sicken. The animals in my opinion aren't treated fairly and the ethical reasons are questionable. To put us in their shoes it would be like jail, we get fed, we sleep, and use the play ground for a certain period of time. Then get locked into a cell overnight until someone is ready to let you out. The bottom line is that all living organisms including humans depend on other living things for survival, the main benefit wild species provide in the wild are economic, medical and scientific, aesthetic and recreational, and lastly ecological. We need to let our animals be free and only use them for research and not amusement. If we keep capturing our wildlife and messing with nature it will come back to haunt us all ecologically. Presently she teaches English Language to the Afghan Refugees, a project of Hashoo Foundation funded by the People of America through BPRM. She is one of the fortunate refugees who managed to escape from the terrorism-plagued country of Afghanistan, along with family at the age of five. It has been the helping hand of Hashoo Foundation that supported her education from grade 5 to A-levels. Most of the refugees, she teaches find her very close and feel at home with her which makes it easier for her to get their attention in the classroom. Moreover, the linguistic commonality of Persian and Dari helps the learners to overcome the difficulties of the target language as a second Language. She and her family are well respected by all sections of the community which helps her when she looks to encourage the community to take a more active role in the learning of the learners. Prior to becoming a Language instructor, Yasmin completed her formal education with the moral support of her family, the financial support of Hashoo Foundation and above all her keen interest and iron will to receive higher education, to become a doctor. Her devotion to studies has been worth mentioning since her childhood, when she managed to cope with up-hill tasks of new education system of Pakistani society the linguistic hurdles and the financial constraints. After observing personally, the worst situation of deprivation of Afghani people within her homeland and de0lorable condition in Pakistan, Yasmin became concerned and decided to help her community. She could feel the intensity of the pangs of her people, for being victimized of the onset of the Afghan was and it aftermath. It is experienced fact that Afghan refugees had teaming number of problems to get them settled in Pakistan with all Legalities. Moreover, at the top of the list has been the education, for it is the only tool to lesson their p0ain and drive their attention to the constructive direction instead of a revengeful weapon bearer fighter. Her timely decision to receive education, as much as possible, along with the domestic and social responsibilities proved that Skill Development and positive personality grooming could produce positive characters for society. Hashoo Foundation played a vital role in this regard by providing personal attention and led the Afghan Community to be constructive for themselves and for their community. Yasmin has been instrumental in helping her community; deciphers the imperatives of the time and society and guided a great number of her community members to get their hands skillful in order to design their fortune with their own hands. Her efforts have been productively ensuring rapid increase in handsome number of the English Language learner. She also is putting her oil-burnt efforts to bridge up the linguistic competency with their skill development. She tries hard to provide them the Language lessons that could be supportive in their technical domain Yasmin believes: I hope we will be able to achieve the target of economic development through skill, and English Language learning would play a key role in this regard.
